I wanted to make a gift for my wife, Ardelle. Since she was the recipient, I asked for a lot of input from her as I worked up maybe a dozen clay models. This one expresses the love we feel for each other. I like to sculpt in walnut more than any other wood, so I chose a small log from my pile of sculpture logs and sized it to fit the log. The walnut is almost sensuous and invites one to touch it. Again, the style applied here is a combination of realism and abstraction that I think does a better job of capturing and expressing emotion. Orders can be placed on "The Embrace" for either full 30 ½ size or 14 inches. Either one makes a very special anniversary, birthday or Christmas gift.

This very popular piece recently won second place in the "Group" category at the 2001 International Woodcarvers' Congress. Orders can be placed for beautiful sculptures in 14-inch or 31-inches, plain bottom, with feet or "evolving from a common wood base". Both sizes can be commissioned in either walnut or cherry.
