I did the clay maquette for this some years ago when I was working in a gift for my wife, Ardelle, that captured the tenderness and vulnerability of our love for each other. At that time I went on to create "The Embrace," and variations of it. And so recently, when I realized that couples had become a theme for me, my eye caught this maquette, broken and in need of repair. So I re-created it in a 10 inch sculpture that is patinaed in a silver color. I like the way she tucks her check up next to his and nestles her face in his neck. The vulnerability is expressed in her exposed breast and the tenderness in the gentle way he holds her -- no bear hug, just a spiritual soul-mated closeness. Signed Limited Edition of 375.
